What Is Federated Innovation @MIND?

Founded in 2021, Federated Innovation @MIND is an open innovation ecosystem supporting private-sector organizations in growth, innovation, and solution deployment. It brings together companies, research institutions, public bodies, and industry partners within a structured framework that moves ideas from exploration to real-world impact. Federated Innovation @MIND is anchored at MIND – Milano Innovation District, promoted by Principia in partnership with Lendlease, with the goal of building a large-scale ecosystem integrated into the district.

Members

Within the ecosystem, corporate Members jointly fund the organization and help set its direction by identifying shared challenges, bringing real operational needs, and activating collaborative projects. In doing so, they create the conditions to test, refine, and scale solutions in real-world contexts.

Community

Within the ecosystem, the Community brings together startups, SMEs, and companies that actively participate in innovation initiatives or propose new project ideas. As an open and dynamic layer of the ecosystem, it channels emerging capabilities, new technologies, and entrepreneurial energy, creating a fertile environment where ideas can surface, connect, and evolve into collaborative opportunities.

Federated Innovation provides access to a curated network of specialist service providers that support the delivery of innovation initiatives. These services complement internal capabilities, enabling projects to move efficiently and effectively from idea to execution.

MIND Innovation District

The concept of Federated Innovation @MIND was born within the development of MIND – Milano Innovation District establishing a shared framework through which organizations can collaborate, develop, and deploy innovation within the district.
